Spencer and his new glasses

Spencer now wears glasses. At first, he would take them on and off (and on and off -- and ON AND OFF). But soon he grew accustomed to them. He had a lot of fun this year at Halloween. He dressed as Harry Potter and made his own costume. So far, he hasn't read any Harry Potter books. He just decided that Harry Potter would be a good choice because of the resemblance with his glasses. He won a "most original costume" contest and was quite pleased with himself. Now he wants to read some Harry Potter books!

Lucky 7

Today is Spencer's 7th birthday! He received a new bike this morning. More presents are in store. This photo was taken shortly after his April haircut. His hair is much longer now, but still not long enough to require a haircut.

Happy Father's Day!

Spencer's hair is still short, but it's no longer problematic. However, this photo was taken prior to his haircut. Although his hair is growing slowly, his body has been growing rapidly in the last few months, as this outfit no longer fits. He is 48 inches tall -- in sneakers, that is. He doesn't like to be called "little boy," but he doesn't mind the term "small boy." One of his favorite foods is garlic toast. And he loves onions! Fortunately, he also likes to brush his teeth. At the moment, his favorite toothpaste is Crest Cavity protection, but it had been Colgate for Kids. And speaking of teeth, he still has all 20 baby teeth! Perhaps he is waiting for the Tooth Fairy's rates to increase!   

Happy Mother's Day 2015

Spencer is doing very well. However, he had a short haircut last month, and he still isn't comfortable with the length of his hair. (So here is a photo of Spencer prior to his haircut.) It should be okay by Father's Day. Meanwhile, he is happy discovering new flavors. His favorites (at the moment) are cherry, vanilla, cherry vanilla, maple and lime. He recently enjoyed trying lollipops flavored like pizza, buttered popcorn and bacon. (Just one lick each, and he was done!) It's all about the sensation. He did a nice job on a school project on spiders. And he likes learning about state capitols.

Merry Christmas, from Spencer

Spencer has been a good boy this year, so he is hoping Santa will bring him lots of presents. Santa definitely needs to bring him some new clothes because he is a lot taller this year and most of his winter clothes no longer fit! Spencer loves milkshakes -- especially cookies & cream flavored. He also likes to have peas and corn added to most of his dinners. He is learning to read and likes to sound out new words. He also likes to play family board games (although he typically cheats and can't handle losing). He is very cheeky and can be manipulative, but most of all he is adorable, precious and loved unconditionally. P.S. Sky the kitty is doing very well, too.

Spencer's new kitty!

Spencer found a stray cat last weekend. He named the kitty "Sky" because, in his own words, "I could see the sky when I found her." The kitty was extremely hungry and needs to gain some weight. She is very affectionate and enjoys cuddling with Spencer the most. Spencer was troubled to think that someone would abandon a kitty, but I assured him that even though we don't have the answers, there is probably a reasonable explanation. Also, what matters is that he loves the kitty and will take care of her forever. (Actually, it turns out that the kitty is male.)

And not wanting to break with tradition, Spencer says he will not wear a Halloween costume tonight. He likes discussing costumes and wearing them at other times of the year, but he won't wear them in conjunction with any Halloween celebration of any type. That's our boy! :)

Spencer took this "selfie" at the Great Wolf Lodge. He had a wonderful time! He especially enjoyed a blue raspberry slushie there. It's hard to believe this "little boy" is now 6! But sometimes it is hard to believe he is "only" 6. For example, he likes to begin his sentences with the phrase, "You do realize ..." He loves to eat peas -- especially in his mac and cheese! And his favorite show at the moment is "Girl Meets World" because he likes to sing the theme song. Happy birthday, Spencer! :)
