Happy New Year!

Spencer enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year which was last Saturday. Although he refused to wear his Frankenstein t-shirt for five minutes just for a picture earlier in the day (in an attempt to recreate Halloween), he reluctantly agreed to put on traditional Chinese dress for a few photos. His smile indicates his increasing ability to be charming to get his way. The bottom photo expresses how he really feels about wearing something other than a t-shirt with Thomas & Friends. He recently refused to wear a black and red sweater vest to church because "it's too cute." He doesn't like to be thought of as cute, handsome or sweet. However, he does like to be reminded that he is precious!

Merry Christmas!

 

Ho, ho ho! Spencer had a great Christmas! His favorite present was a replica of the Polynesian Resort for his Disney monorail. Apparently the hotel is no longer generally available, but somehow Santa was able to find it! Spencer also received an iPod Touch in early December although he didn't have to wait to use it. He received three new Thomas & Friends Take 'N Play engines, too. Plus he can say the names of all 70 of the engines on the "map" that comes with them. He can write his first name and also his sisters' names. His favorite song at the moment is "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson. (I apologize that this was in "draft" mode for the last six weeks -- I just realized the error. More photos coming soon!)

Sorry it took so long to post these pictures. They were taken in early September. Blogspot changed a lot of their settings, and it was difficult to figure out. It seems like there have been some additional changes more recently which have made the site more user friendly -- like it was before.

 

Anyway, Spencer is doing very well. He can write his name, and he is starting to read. When told that a tongue is something you use to taste things with, he replied "Like sweet, salty or sour." So he's very smart. But if he had also said "bitter" and "umami" he would be a genius! He is looking forward to Halloween because he really enjoys all kinds of candy. However, he does not want to wear a Halloween costume. He has a Tow Mater costume (from "Cars"), but he wants to carry it in the bag it came in! Fortunately he has agreed to wear his new Frankenstein t-shirt. But he likes to point out that "It isn't a costume." 

Spencer is 4!

Spencer is having a good day today! He has received many presents and is looking forward to chocolate cake after dinner.

Spencer loves trains!

Spencer continues to love trains! Too bad he wouldn't smile in front of Casey Jr.! He enjoys wearing "I love NY shirts." When he says "I love New York," it sounds like "I love you more." But then we say, "No, I love you more!"

Happy Father's Day

Spencer is doing very well. He likes anything from the movie "Cars." He invented a new game called "tiny baby" whereby he likes to get into bed and pretend he is a baby. But in a couple of minutes he declares that he is actually a "big boy" and wants to do EVERYTHING for himself again. If he does run into a problem, he says "Mummy, I need you." He tends to set the "play agenda" for the girls. If he wants to play with his engines, they will play, too. If he wants to ride his tricycle, they will get their bikes out, too. If he wants to watch "Thomas & Friends," they will watch, too. If he gets too tired, he says, "I need to take a rest" because he never wants to admit that he still needs a nap on most days.
